Miss Nacogdoches/East Texas Scholarship Pageant is the official local preliminaries to the Miss Texas/Miss America Organization. Leslie Bramlett, Miss Teen Southeast Texas 2001, was one of the entertainer of the pageant. Dianne Rapsilver is the Executive Director of the Miss Nacogdoches Scholarship Pageant and Kim Lyons is the Executive Director of the Miss East Texas Scholarship Pageant.

Leslie Bramlett, Miss Teen Southeast Texas 2001, and Sabrina LaVoie, Miss Southeast Texas 2001, were asked to assume the position after encountering with the Angelina County sheriff. Sabrina LaVoie, Miss Southeast Texas 2001, and Leslie Bramlett, Miss Teen Southeast Texas 2001, were assisted to the back of the sheriff car.
